What is Interact?
Interact, the combination of the words 'international' and
'action' is Rotary International's service club programme
for young people at the secondary school level (ages 14 to
18). It was founded in October 1962 and the first Interact
Club was chartered at Melbourne High School, Florida, USA.
Interact Clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary Clubs,
which provide support and guidance, but Interact Clubs are
self-governing and self-supporting.
Interact Clubs Goals
- Recognise and develop constructive leadership and personal
integrity.
- Encourage and practice thoughtfulness of and helpfulness
to others.
- Create and awareness of the importance of home and family.
- Build respect for the rights of others based on recognition
of the worth of each individual.
- Emphasise acceptance of individual responsibility as
the basis of personal success, community improvement, and
group achievement.
- Recognise the dignity and value of all useful occupations
as opportunities to serve society.
- Provide opportunities for gaining increased knowledge
and understanding of community, national and world affairs.
- Open avenues of personal and group action leading to
the advancement of international understanding and goodwill
toward all people.
Why Join Interact?
You will meet like-minded students and together with them
help those in need via community service projects. Some of
these projects will further international understanding and
goodwill. Through these projects you will develop a network
of friendships with local and overseas clubs. In the process,
as an Interacter you will develop leadership skills and learn
the value of hard work.

The Rotaract of Kuala Lumpur currently sponsors 8 Interact
Clubs in the Klang valley. Meetings are held at the schools'
premises.
